Thing 7 !?&%$#@!

Thing 7 has stopped me in my tracks.  I checked out the Microsoft SurfacePro two days in a row.  Each day, I was unable to get any apps from the Microsoft app store.  When I asked Meredith to help me on each day, she also was unable to get into the store.  I felt what chance do I have if even she had trouble!  A week or two later, she told me that there was some problem with SurfacePro or Microsoft or something... but that Ellen had fixed it.

I admit that I have been slow to come back to 19 things after that frustrating experience.  Today, many weeks later, I thought to use the IPad as I have always had good luck using it - however they were all checked out once again.  I took the Nook HD but when I went to Google Play store, both Pinterest and Pushbullet told me that my device was not compatible with the apps.

Frustrated once again, I decided to download the GPL app that Ellen demonstrated in our ADS staff meeting two days ago.  Hallelujah, it worked beautifully.  I used databases, checked for items, looked at programs [ what a  interesting and numerous bunch they are!] and did everything but go into my account.  I feared I would get my information in there permanently or something.

One funny aside - a very nice co-worker apologized to me for accidently erasing my Thing 6 frog murder story.  Neither one of us has a clue as to how it could have happened.  Sorry folks, you had your chance but now you will never see my award-nominated-one-very-long-sentence homage to Henry James of a not very mysterious murder.

Pleading the 5th Thing

I had fun making a list on Wunderlist.  I found 20 + items that I could "C" in the kitchen.  Someone helped me send the list to my email account and then I went home.  Six days later upon my return to work, I planned to post the list.  I found an message from Wunderlist asking me to verify.  I did so but the email of the list never showed up in my inbox.  We don't know why I didn't receive it; perhaps because of the six-day delay...who knows. I will try again when I get the time but I'm already looking at thing 6.

Thing4 Day2

Today using the iPad mini, I installed Bloglovin on it and read some more neat NPR feeds.  Second time around it much easier.  I find that I like the iPad better than the Kindle or the Microsoft tablet.  If I ever decide to buy something mobile, at least I know what I prefer.  Of course, that most likely will be changed by the time I get around to doing so.

Thing4 - Day 1

So far not so good...I 've spent quite a bit of time this afternoon on Thing 4.  I thought that I added the  Blogloving app [read about it on Meredith blog] to the Kindle I checkout from tech zoo.  Actually it's not an app that can be loaded onto Kindles but I got in through Facebook and added three feeds to my rss.   Jenny figured out that I was on the website not in the App.

The good news is that  I found some good books on the NPR feed....one is a fiction title that I'd not seen reviewed so it's now in a cart to be ordered.  Also, added two nonfiction titles [both are available at GPL] to my to- read list.  Best of all, I found my niece's YouTube site and saw  that some of her posts have had over 100,000 views.  It seems like a lot to me but maybe that's not much in the YouTubeverse.

As Katie Scarlett O. used to say....Tomorrow is another day.

Thing3

GoogleEarth is probably old news to most of you, but I found it fascinating to revisit places I vacationed in Europe years ago.  I found the house [roof] of friends in a little mountain town in the Alps.  Kind of scary vis a vis privacy as a concept.

The other two apps I tried to download didn't show up on the IPad.  However, I could access them anyway.  Christine D. explained to me that this meant that they were already downloaded once onto the device and then removed...so the icon is no longer there but the access is.

Also, I looked for WeatherKitten app multiple ways but couldn't find it.  Meredith tells me that it might not be available on iOS devices.
